Crowns

What is it?   A crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant.

Who can benefit? People with damaged, decayed or aesthetically unpleasing teeth can benefit from crowns.

How long does it take? Typically, two appointments are required for a crown, spaced a few weeks apart to allow for the custom crown to be manufactured.

How is it done? Initially, the tooth is reshaped to make room for the crown. Then, an impression is taken of the tooth and sent to a dental laboratory to fabricate the crown. Meanwhile, a temporary crown is placed to protect the tooth. On a subsequent visit, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is cemented in place.
